KPMG is one of the leading Audit practices in the Bahrain whose success and reputation depends upon the quality and integrity of our services - and our people. We are looking for high-calibre people to join KPMG in Bahrain's Audit department. The audit department includes a significant number of clients in the Financial Services (FS) industry. Within audit, FS is one of the largest and most successful groups. Our market leading practice comprises clients in the Banking, Insurance and Investment Management industries amongst others.

We are based in the heart of one of GCC's most progressive and dynamic countries at Manama, Bahrain and have close ties with several industry groups -Central Bank of Bahrain (Supervision and Other Directorates), Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions, who drafts and issues, financial accounting and reporting standards for Islamic Financial Institutions, Bahrain Insurance Association and others. Islamic financial services

KPMG has recently been named the Euro Money's Best Islamic Assurance Services Provider. In Bahrain, we are a Centre of Excellence in Islamic investment banking and have a wealth of expertise in the industry. In Bahrain, KPMG audits and advises among others, a number of Islamic investment banks, the AAOIFI and others in audit related services such as product structuring, IFRS and AAOIFI compliance, building and maintaining chart of accounts, selection of accounting policies and drafting accounting policy manuals etc.

Conventional banking - retail and wholesale

We audit a number of entities who have a significant presence in Bahrain, prominent among them being Citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered, ICICI, and other multinational entities. Our conventional banking clients form the bedrock of our financial services audit clients.

Insurance

KPMG has focused on the insurance industry for over 30 years. Our global insurance practice covers 80 financial centres around the world. In Bahrain, we provide audit and financial advisory services to the leading insurers and are leaders in both the life and non-life markets. We audit a number of leading Islamic (Takaful and Re-takaful) Insurance service providers and conventional insurance companies in Bahrain and advise on industry specific reporting and compliance issues etc.

Investment Management

We have a market leading share of the audit and administration of Bahrain's investment funds, and our fund clients include hedge funds, mutual funds, investment trusts and private equity vehicles. We also work with many of the well known investment managers and investment administrators. Our range of clients vary from relatively small hedge fund / private equity start ups to some of the largest global investment managers and administrators, which are often part of global banking or insurance clients of KPMG, listed across the world.

The Responsibilities

The Individual

Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CA equivalent)

All-round accounting and financial reporting knowledge in IFRS or US GAAP

5 to 7 years of post qualification experience in a Big 4, with over 2 years in a managerial capacity

Proven leadership skills and experience in handling of listed and regulated FS entities

Build a network within the office to ensure maximum utilization of available specialist skills and available talent

Capable of preparing and presenting audit findings to Audit Committees and others involved in supervisory roles in internal control or to Board of Directors in clients

Audit focus of banking, insurance or funds clients. Experience in Islamic financial services is a distinct advantage, although not essential

Have good background for preparing proposals, carrying out sales pitches and cross selling of non audit services

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are an absolute must

For the Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Services(IARCS), we require Senior Managers

6-8 years (Senior Managers) internal audit experience gained with a leading professional services firm or a multinational or consulting

University degree

Qualified Accountant (CPA,CA,ACCA or ACA) plus CIA, CISA equivalent

Good analytical skills

Good business and marketing skills

Good project management skills

Tasks and Responsibility

Execution and completion of one or more client engagements.

Ability to work on multiple engagements concurrently

Work closely with Managers and Senior Managers on engagement management

Building an environment which fosters teamwork

Review the work product of Associates and provide direction and training as necessary.

Provide input into engagement decisions including work plan and timeline, budget management, resource allocation and career development of associates.

Education, Skills and Experience

3-4 years audit experience (including some supervisory skills) for Deputy Managers and 1-3 years for Assistant Managers

Big 4 experience

University Degree

Qualified Accountant (CPA, CA, ACCA or ACA) or equivalent with good record of accomplishment

Good analytical skills

Good communication skills

Good project management skills
